frequently asked questions

What are your website designs written in?

All web templates, pages, and projects are written entirely in XHTML 1.1 (which is the latest HTML web standard) and CSS. In the early years of the Internet, tables were commonly used in constructing the layout and style of webpages (you can see this structure in the Phoenix Rising sample pages). However, the modern use of XHTML and CSS ensures that new websites are forward compatible, quick loading and easy to customize. Relative font sizes have been used to help aid accessibility; in addition, all the designs can be validated (as XHTML 1.1 and CSS) using the Validation Menu at bottom right.

Are your websites compliant across different browsers?

Yes. All E-lemental Web Design websites are compliant across the two most popular browsers, IE6 and Mozilla Firefox (which account for approximately 90% of all browsers).

Are they compliant across different screen resolutions?

Yes. the websites are best viewed in 1024 x 768 resolution but can all be viewed in higher or lower resolutions without compromising functionality or design.

If I download a template do I need to know how to write HTML?

If you download a website template then you will need to know a small amount of html, so that you can edit the template html file(s) and insert your own web content. If you do not know html / or do not want to edit the template file(s) yourself, then we would be happy to assist in the creation of your website. Please contact us for more details.

Can I modify / customize the template?

Yes. You can modify and customize the template as much as you want, providing you retain link in the footer of the template.

The template has a contact form. How can I get this to work?

A contact form requires some method of emailing the contents of the form to an email address. The most common way to do this is to use some kind of server script (PHP for example). However, it depends what scripting languages you have installed on your web server. Your best bet is to find out what your hosting company has installed on their servers and also see if they have a script you can use. If not, there are lots of scripts available for free on the internet.

Do you offer domain registration / web hosting services?

No. E-lemental concentrates purely on the design of web sites rather than the hosting of them. However, we can recommend reliable web hosting companies with whom you can register a domain name and have your website hosted.
